A Massachusetts man was convicted yesterday in Boston federal court after a 14-day trial for conspiring to illegally export sophisticated electronic components from the United States to Iran in violation of U.S. sanctions.
Mahdi Mohammad Sadeghi, 43, a dual U.S.-Iranian citizen from Natick, was found guilty of one count of conspiracy to violate the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) and Iranian Transactions and Sanctions Regulations (ITSR), plus two substantive counts of the same violations. U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani scheduled sentencing for October 13.
Sadeghi was charged alongside Mohammad Abedini (also known as Mohammad Abedininajafabadi) of Tehran, Iran, who remains a fugitive. Abedini founded San’at Danesh Rahpooyan Aflak Co.
