A man accused of killing one person and seriously injuring another in two unprovoked attacks near Boston Common has been ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.
Ashlie Jeremy, 27, of Bedford, appeared in court Thursday, where not-guilty pleas were entered on his behalf at his arraignment. He is charged with murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, and larceny.
Prosecutors allege Jeremy fatally attacked a man outside the Boylston MBTA station Wednesday morning. Authorities say just hours later, he allegedly assaulted a 21-year-old man near Chinatown using a piece of a steel jackhammer.
