I-93 Pursuit Ends In Braintree Smashup, Three Nabbed

A highway pursuit that started with a police alert in Newton ended with a crash on a busy Braintree street Friday, leaving three people in handcuffs and, according to officials, no one hurt.

Massachusetts State Police said a trooper on Interstate 93 spotted a vehicle that matched a “be on the lookout” alert issued by Newton police. When troopers tried to pull the driver over, the car did not stop and continued on I-93 before exiting the highway and crashing in Braintree. All three occupants allegedly tried to run but were quickly taken into custody, and authorities reported no injuries.

The pursuit tracked along I-93 until the vehicle left the interstate and collided on Washington Street in Braintree, WCVB reported. After the crash, Newton police took all three people into custody at the scene. Tow trucks later removed the damaged vehicles, according to the outlet.
