Massachusetts woman dies in vehicle crash involving horse in New York

LEBANON, N.Y. (WWLP) – A Massachusetts woman has died after striking a horse with her vehicle in New York.

Massachusetts crew sent to Minnesota to aid in battling wildfires

The New York State Police stated that on Wednesday at approximately 9:21 p.m., troopers were called to Lebanon Road near Bonny Road in Lebanon regarding a one-vehicle crash involving a horse.

Following a preliminary investigation, it was determined that the driver was traveling eastbound on Lebanon Road when she struck a horse that was running westbound in the eastbound lane.

The driver, identified as 72-year-old Janet Schwaner of Wellesley, Mass., was pronounced dead at the scene. The horse also died as a result of the crash. The incident is being investigated.
