A man who was fatally shot by Cambridge police Friday night during a confrontation in which prosecutors say he pointed a gun at officers has been identified as William Woodworth, 64, of Watertown, the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office said Monday.
Woodworth was killed after Cambridge police responded to a call reporting suspicious individuals in a parking lot behind a business area around 8 p.m., prosecutors said. The caller, who made the report via a non-emergency line, said the individuals had remained in the parking lot for a long while. Responding officers spoke with multiple people at the scene.
