An Uber driver in Massachusets was unknowingly pulled into a bail money scam this summer, collecting and delivering more than $6,000 at the direction of a suspected scammer, police said.
A man named Wagner Bereguete-Castillo, 34, of Lawrence, has been charged with larceny over $1,200 by false pretense in connection with the scam, according to the Stoneham Police Department.
The incident unfolded at around 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 11, police said. Officers were called to a home in Stoneham where they spoke with a person who said they had just been scammed into believing their son was arrested and needed $6,800 in bail money…
