Bedford Issues Stop Work Order for 277 The Great Road

On Sept. 4, Bedford Building Commissioner Joseph Ready issued a stop work order to Maggiore Construction Corporation at 277 The Great Road.

The order resulted from three violations reportedly observed by Ready on Sept. 4:

  • The manner in which earth removal and related trucking were being performed.
  • Parking and staging of trucks on Roberts Drive and obstruction of sidewalks.
  • Absence of required police detail between the hours of 7 and 9 a.m.

Zoning Board of Appeals conditions for the project (Pages 7 and 8) include no trucks on Roberts Drive or staging on Bedford public property, but Ready reportedly observed trucks parked and staged on Roberts Drive “within the town right-of-way, obstructing the sidewalk and pedestrian accessible route.”

Another condition of the ZBA permits eastbound trucking only. Neighbors and Ready reportedly observed “trucks loaded with fill exiting the site and traveling westbound on The Great Road.”

The conditions also require trucking activity to be limited to Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a police detail between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Ready reportedly observed trucking activity between 7 and 9 a.m. without a police detail…
