The murder of Susan “Su” Taraskiewicz, a 27-year-old Northwest Airlines worker from Saugus, remains unsolved after 34 years. Members of Taraskiewicz’ family will join retired investigators and community supporters at Constitution Beach in East Boston Saturday, Sept. 12th at noon for a special vigil to honor her life, remember the 34th anniversary of her murder and renew the public call for justice.
The anniversary vigil will also launch a statewide public awareness campaign designed to generate fresh media attention, encourage new leads and remind the public that Taraskiewicz’ murder remains unsolved. A $250,000 reward remains active. Representatives from the District Attorney’s Office and current and retired law enforcement officers are expected to attend, according to Dianne C. Braley, an author who is writing about the case and who has also organized the vigil.
Taraskiewicz, 27, worked as a baggage supervisor for Northwest Airlines at Logan International Airport. At the time of her murder, a large-scale credit card theft operation was taking place inside the airport. She disappeared after leaving work on Sept. 13, 1992, to make a nightly run to the local sub shop on behalf of her coworkers. About 30 hours later, Taraskiewicz’ body was discovered in the trunk of her Toyota Tercel at Bravo Automotive in Revere.
