The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for the South Coast Sunday afternoon. A flood watch remains in effect for much of Massachusetts, including the Boston and Worcester areas.
A flash flood warning is in effect for southern Bristol County and the southeastern tip of Plymouth County until 2 p.m. Sunday. The warning was issued after local law enforcement reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain around 11:45 a.m.
Between 1 and 2 inches of rain had fallen in South Coast communities before the warning was issued, according to the weather service. The expected rainfall rate in this area is 1 to 2 inches per hour, and 1 to 3 more inches of rain could come down within the next few hours…
