BOSTON – Thursday, September 24, 2026 – Mayor Michelle Wu today issued a coastal storm warning for the City of Boston beginning tomorrow, Friday, September 25, through Sunday, September 27, based on the National Weather Service forecast. During this period, with a peak of Friday evening into Saturday, residents can expect potential impacts including heavy rain, strong winds, and coastal flooding and erosion. The latest forecast indicates up to two to four inches of rain, with high damaging winds, with potential for minimal flooding and ponding of water on roadways. Residents are encouraged to stay indoors during the peak of the storm.
“Nor’easters aren’t new for New England, but not usually in September, so we’re taking extra preparations to connect with all our residents about this rare fall nor’easter,” said Mayor Michelle Wu. “We urge residents and families to take all necessary precautions to stay indoors and safe during the storm. Thank you to all our City workers who have been collaborating to keep our neighborhoods safe and our City ready to respond.”
