PEABODY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Peabody City Council voted to advance an ordinance that would require residents across the city to clear snow off sidewalks within five hours after snowfall or face a fine.
Stephanie Peach, Peabody Ward 3 city councilor, has been pushing for the measure for five years. She said she was inspired to re-introduce the effort after last year’s heavy snowfall.
“I put it forward again because I think seeing what happened last winter gave everyone new perspectives,” Peach said. “It had been a long time since we had a winter like that.”…
