A man is facing drug charges after Lynn police said an investigation into complaints about drug activity on Wardwell Avenue turned up more than $11,000 in cash and over 150 grams of cocaine. The bust was carried out by the Lynn Police Drug Task Force, with help from a county K-9 unit brought in to assist on scene.

According to Newport Dispatch, the task force opened the investigation in response to several complaints regarding drug activity in the area around Wardwell Avenue in Lynn. Police said the Essex County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit assisted in the investigation, which led to the arrest of the man on drug charges.

A Pattern of Task Force Seizures Across Lynn

The Wardwell Avenue case is far from an isolated event for the Lynn Police Drug Task Force. Just months earlier, in May 2026, a multi-agency investigation led to two arrests and the seizure of drugs, a firearm, and cash, the same outlet reported, with authorities in that case recovering 1,363 grams of fentanyl, 161 grams of cocaine, 17 grams of Xanax, and 375 grams of marijuana. That operation pulled in the Lynn Drug Task Force alongside DEA Task Force 2, Massachusetts State Police CINRET North, and Revere Police, per the same account.

Earlier still, in June 2024, the Lynn Police Drug Task Force executed two search warrants at addresses on Franklin Street, according to the Lynn Police Department. Detectives in that case seized roughly 8 grams of fentanyl and 3 grams of cocaine, and the department said investigators also located precursor chemicals, timing devices, and other materials that could be used to build destructive devices. Lynn Police reported that 52-year-old Mark Maisonet was arrested and charged with possession to distribute a Class A drug and possession to distribute a Class B drug, both as subsequent offenses, with the department noting the investigation was ongoing and further charges were pending.
