Rows of people are reportedly sleeping in the terminal nightly
As many as 100 migrants are reportedly sleeping in Logan International Airport, as the city of Boston struggles to find housing for the influx of people from southern border states .
Migrants started staying in the Boston airport in November, but a spokeswoman for Massport, the agency that runs the airport, said Logan “is not the appropriate place.”
Despite that, they keep coming back.
Last week, Boston TV station WBZ cameras recorded rows of people sleeping, and small children running and playing in a corner of the terminal.
The people disappear from the airport only to return at night.
Keturah Douze is a local volunteer helping collect care items for the families.
“A lot of well-care stuff because while they’re at the airport they don’t have access to a shower, so there’s like some shower wipes, little towels just to clean up while they wait,” she told the TV station.
When questioned this week, the Massachusetts governor acknowledged the issue.
