In a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, a spotlight was shone on An Unlikely Story, an independent bookstore located in Plainville, Massachusetts. The owner of the store, Jeff Kinney, who is also a New York Times bestselling author known for the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, was featured alongside a devoted fan of his work.
The segment started with Kelly Clarkson introducing Jacob, a young aspiring writer and a huge enthusiast of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. Clarkson highlighted Jacob’s deep knowledge and appreciation for every detail in Kinney’s books. Clarkson then explained that Jacob was unaware that Jeff Kinney, the author of the series, was present and had an offer that Jacob couldn’t refuse. The author extended an invitation to Jacob to visit the studio where the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books are written! “I have a studio in Plainville, Massachusetts, in my bookstore, on the top floor, and I would like to invite you to spend time with me in the studio, draw on my computer, talk about books and talk about your books. Does that sound like a good idea?” Jacob enthusiastically accepted the invitation, saying, “Yes!”
