Six famous Irish pubs in Boston where famous movies were filmed

Boston rarely shies away from embracing its Irish roots and the city is home to Irish pubs galore .

Hugely successful movies focus on the Irish working class heritage of Boston , such as Good Will Hunting (1997), Mystic River (2003), and Spotlight (2015). Movies such as The Departed (2006), The Town (2010) and Black Mass (2015) expose the dark underbelly of the city.

Irish pubs serve as a central hub for Irish American communities, meaning scenes for some of these stories were filmed in Boston’s Irish pubs.

L Street Tavern

The L Street Tavern has enjoyed legendary status since it was a defining location in the Oscar-winning movie Good Will Hunting.

The movie follows local boys Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, both Massachusetts natives, as they navigate working class upbringings, blue-collar jobs and being proud of where they come from.
