In mid-December, John arrived in Massachusetts with a plan. After fleeing violence in Haiti, and struggling to make ends meet in Chile for eight years, John was on his way to meet up with a friend and start a new life. At Logan Airport, with his wife and young daughter in tow, John called his friend. But there was no answer.
