Cape Cod Man Sentenced for Possessing Loaded “Ghost” Gun While on Supervised Release

BOSTON, MA – Krymeii Fray, a 28-year-old man from Hyannis, Cape Cod, has been handed a 30-month prison sentence by U.S. District Court Judge Allison D. Burroughs for illegal ammunition possession. Following his prison term, Fray will undergo three years of supervised release. His guilty plea came in October 2023, acknowledging his status as a felon in possession of ammunition.

The arrest occurred on March 24, 2023, when Fray was pulled over by Boston police at 2:15 a.m. on Blue Hill Avenue. A search of his vehicle unveiled a Polymer 80 9mm firearm, known as a “ghost” gun due to its lack of commercial manufacturing and serial numbers, hidden under Fray’s seat. The firearm was loaded with seven rounds of ammunition, and an additional live round along with a spent shell casing was found in the vehicle.

At the time of this incident, Fray was under federal supervised release following a conviction for conspiracy to distribute heroin, complicating his legal situation.

Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy, along with James M. Ferguson, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, and Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox, announced the sentencing. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Christopher J. Pohl and Lauren A. Graber of the Criminal Division, underscoring the seriousness with which the justice system treats illegal firearm possession, especially involving “ghost” guns.
