“Seeing these dogs and the resilience they show is pretty spectacular and they’re kind and forgiving and loyal and loving and all the things you wish every human could be,” his owner Erin Barnicle told WCVB-TV .

Max has three siblings named Cricket, Easton and Jack. Barnicle believes that will give him a competitive edge.

“He thinks he’s the boss of the crew. He’s the littlest of all of them, but he tells them all where to go and what to do,” Barnicle said.

Puppy Bowl XX airs at 2 p.m. on Sunday on Animal Planet and streaming on Discovery Plus and Max.
