RI man faces 20 years in prison for allegedly selling drugs to Massachusetts witness

BOSTON (WWLP) – A man from Rhode Island associated with the violent Cameron Street gang in Boston pleaded guilty in connection with trafficking drugs.

According to the Department of Justice in Boston, during a two-year investigation into the Cameron Street gang, 35-year-old Michael Lopes , a/k/a “Meech,” of Pawtucket, R.I., and a co-conspirator Anthony Centeio and others allegedly made several sales of cocaine and cocaine base to a cooperating witness in Boston, Braintree and Pawtucket, R.I.

Police found approximately 174 grams of cocaine base, 215 grams of cocaine, 180 grams of methamphetamine, packaging materials, and $2,342 during a search of Lopes’ Rhode Island home in April 2022.

On Friday, Lopes pleaded guilty to a one-count Superseding Information charging him with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine, cocaine base and methamphetamine.

Lopes faces up to 20 years in prison, supervised release of at least three years and a fine of up to $1 million. He is scheduled to be sentenced on May 6th.
