Pair of Red Sox outfielders named 2024 Gold Glove finalists

The Boston Red Sox may not have made it to the postseason, but they did have some great individual performances throughout the 162-game regular season in 2024.

Outfielders Jarren Duran and Wilyer Abreu had breakout campaigns at the plate, but they also were among some of the best fielders in the American League this year.

On Tuesday, Rawlings announced that both Duran and Abreu are finalists for the Gold Glove Award at both center field and right field, respectively.

According to Baseball Reference, Duran recorded 23 defensive runs saved, making just six errors while recorded 17 defensive runs saved with just seven errors. Baseball Savant credited Duran with 11 Outs Above Average (tied for 10th in baseball) and 7 Outs Above Average (tied for 21st).

Considering where Duran was defensively just a year ago, and the fact that Abreu just wrapped up his rookie season, this honor is incredible for both players.
