A Massachusetts police officer and former member of the U.S. Marine Corps died suddenly Sunday morning, his department announced. Scott Carroll, 56, was an officer for the Malden Police Department for 24 years. He’d just been promoted to lieutenant last year after he became a sergeant in 2014, and was a member of the administration and operations division for the department.
