Boston 25 Meteorologist Tucker Antico increased the snow forecast on Friday afternoon, urging Bay Staters to shovel heavy, wet snow before temperatures drop overnight.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for parts of Middlesex, Essex, Worcester, Norfolk, Suffolk, Bristol, Plymouth, and Barnstable counties until 4 a.m. Saturday.
“Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening commute,” the NWS warned.
Antico’s latest snow map called for up to 3 inches across southeastern Massachusetts, where a wintry mix could limit snow accumulation.
Up to 5 inches of snow is possible along Interstate 95, where temperatures are colder.
Bitter cold weather will follow the snow with arctic air gripping the region on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
