BROCKTON — The track and field team at Brockton High School has quite the legacy when it comes to its hurdling program.
Vanessa Clerveaux was a six-time Enterprise track athlete of the year and five time all-scholastic, breaking the 100 meter hurdle record her senior year. She went on to compete at Eastern Michigan and Alabama, and qualified for the Haitian Olympic Track and Field team in 2017.
Jordan Williams is currently a junior hurdler at Umass Lowell. While at Brockton, he set the 400m hurdle record at the Div. 1 Eastern Massachusetts Championships in 2019.
In 2016, Eddy Fong won the 55m at the All-State Championships as a senior.
And now there’s current Brockton senior Lucas Andrade .
Last week, Andrade ran a 7.43 in the 55m hurdles at the Big Three conference meet. That time was good enough to be tied for the seventh fastest time in the country this year. He has also already qualified for New Balance Nationals as a junior, finishing first overall in the All-State Championship 55m hurdles. Just five minutes after that race, Andrade went back to the start line, and placed third in the 55m dash. This winter, the senior is now trying to smash state records, and become a national champion.
