Person in custody after hourslong standoff at Boston home, police say

One person was taken into custody Monday morning following an hourslong SWAT standoff at a home in Boston, authorities said.

The standoff unfolded at a home on Hopewell Road off Osceola Street in the city’s Hyde Park neighborhood, according to the Boston Police Department.

Police said officers responded to the area around 3:34 a.m. for a report of a barricaded suspect.

The suspect, whose name hasn’t been released, fired a gun during the standoff but not an officer, according to police.

In an update shared just before 9:30 a.m., police said the suspect surrendered to officers after hours of negotiating.
