MLK III & Embrace Boston lead Freedom Rally, commemorating 60th anniversary of original event

Embrace Boston, in partnership with Everyone250 and the City of Boston, successfully commemorated the 60th Anniversary of the 1965 Freedom Rally on Boston Common. This event paid tribute to the historic 1965 rally led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., emphasizing the ongoing struggle for racial and social justice.

The rally began with a ceremonial march retracing the steps of the original 1965 march from Copley Square, culminating in the dedication of “1965 Freedom Rally Square” at the corner of Boylston St. and Charles St. Here, Martin Luther King III, joined by Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and other distinguished leaders, delivered impassioned speeches to an audience of hundreds of community members. These speeches commemorated the progress made since 1965 while highlighting the pressing issues still facing society today.
