Mass. Pike drivers should brace themselves for “major delays” due to bridge replacement, officials say

Closures due to a bridge replacement project will happen across two weekends later in May and June, transportation officials said.

Drivers on the Massachusetts Turnpike in the Newton and Weston areas should prepare themselves for “major delays” and “intense congestion” across two weekends later in May and June, NBC 10 Boston reported.

From 9 p.m. May 30 to 5 a.m. June 2 and again from 9 p.m. June 20 to 5 a.m. June 23, all but one lane will be closed in both directions between exits 123 and 125, causing estimated backups of up to two or three hours, according to NBC 10 Boston.

The expected traffic delays are due to a Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) project to rehabilitate and replace eight bridges at the Interstate 90/Interstate 95 interchange on the border of Newton and Weston, according to MassDOT’s website…
