Abandoned dog euthanized after being found on I-495; law enforcement seeking answers

The young poodle mix was found May 19 on Route 495 in Lawrence and taken to Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston.

The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA) announced that an abandoned dog found on a highway last week was humanely euthanized due to severe health issues.

Willie, a poodle mix, was found May 19 on I-495 in Lawrence and brought to Nevins Farm Adoption Center in Methuen, the MSPCA said in a statement May 21. He was later taken to Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston for advanced treatment.

“Willie was matted and emaciated when he was brought into the adoption center,” MSPCA Executive Director Chris Schindler said in the statement. “Angell veterinarians found him to be emaciated and extremely dehydrated.”…
