A juvenile has been arrested in connection with a robbery investigation in Hyde Park this past Saturday. The 16-year-old male now faces multiple firearms charges after being apprehended by officers from District E-18. The arrest took place approximately at 5:46 p.m. near 14 Winter Street, part of an increased police presence following an unarmed robbery in the area, according to the Boston Police Department.
The officers, while patrolling the vicinity of Wolcott Square, spotted a group of four males in front of 10 Glenwood Avenue, some of whom were familiar to them due to past firearm investigations. Continuing their route, when the officers returned on Winter Street after driving down Reservation Road, the same individuals were seen approaching the cruiser. Recognizing the police, they promptly changed direction and fled, clutching their waistbands, which prompted the officers to engage in a chase.
In the subsequent pursuit, three suspects were observed running into a backyard on Winter Street, with two managing to leap over a fence to escape. The third individual, the young male now facing charges, remained. Officers witnessed a loaded gray 9mm Beretta handgun dropping from the front pocket of the suspect’s sweatshirt during the apprehension. According to a statement from the Boston Police Department, the weapon was equipped with one round in the chamber and six rounds in the magazine.
