Continuing the investigation into the tragic Chelsea stabbing that took the life of a teen, Suffolk County authorities have reported two arrests. According to their report, 17-year-old Juan Carlos Lemus was fatally stabbed on March 8, while a 15-year-old who was also attacked, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The incident has since led to the apprehension of 26-year-old Brayan Alfredo Lopez-Padilla and the identification of a minor and another suspect, who remain at large.
The charges brought against the suspects include murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and assault with intent to murder. Lopez-Padilla has been arraigned and was ordered held without bail. The minor, whose name was withheld due to legal protections for juveniles, faces charges of being an accessory after the fact, though his arraignment was delayed by a work stoppage that pushed for improved compensation, and benefits for public defenders, as reported by NBC Boston. Ezer Lenin Ramirez-Maldonado, 18, is likewise charged but has reportedly fled the country.
Surveillance footage captured all three individuals fleeing the scene together, providing critical evidence in the case.
