MBTA offering free rides the night of July 4

(WPRI) — Public transportation in Massachusetts is going to be a lot cheaper on Friday night.

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) announced that after 8:30 p.m. on July 4, fares will be free on the bus, subway, ferry, commuter rail and the RIDE.

With the Boston expecting more than a million visitors for the holiday, the MBTA is encouraging everyone to take public transportation and plan ahead…
