Sanitation workers get support from local unions as strike continues in Mass.

Hundreds of sanitation workers are continuing to strike this weekend, demanding better wages and benefits, as a dozen Massachusetts communities continue to have their trash pickup impacted.

Picket lines continued Saturday as employees for Republic Services marched on, with support from local unions, including Local 295, the international association of firefighters.

“Republic refuses to meet with them at the table and that’s the biggest insult to any organized labor,” one Local 295 member said. “We negotiate our contracts with the city and we know that sometimes you have to fight and we’re here to support Local 25, and we know they’re here for us if we ever need them.”…
