Revere’s first female police chief says she’s ‘up for the challenge’

The city of Revere has officially sworn in a female police chief – a first for not only the city, but all of Suffolk County.

Chief Maria LaVita has been the Revere Police Department’s interim chief since June when former Chief David Callahan retired.

Revere Mayor Patrick M. Keefe then appointed her to the role, the city council unanimously confirmed her, and Wednesday, the swearing-in ceremony made it all official…
