In a concerted push against the scourge of human trafficking, a collaborative law enforcement operation has resulted in the arrests of thirteen individuals in Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood. The sting, which took place yesterday, targeted the area around Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard, a known hotspot for criminal activities often associated with sexual exploitation and related offenses, as reported by the Boston Police Department’s official website.
The operation drew together a myriad of law enforcement bodies, including the Massachusetts State Police Special Services Section High-Risk Victims Unit, FBI Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, local district officers, and the Boston Police Department’s own Human Trafficking Unit, their eyes firmly set on purging New Market Square of crime that preys on the vulnerable, while addressing property offenses and urban decay in the process it aimed to enhance community safety and well-being.
Under scrutiny during the sting were the Allerton and Pompeii Street locales, which have been flagged for continual illicit dealings. The resultant arrests span a range of charges, from sexual conduct for a fee to possession of controlled substances and outstanding warrants on various other offenses.
