A linden tree that had been scheduled for removal tomorrow or Tuesday plunged to the ground on Beacon Street between Gloucester and Hereford streets in the Back Bay this morning, damaging two cars, but not injuring anyone.
“It was just trying to be helpful!” surmises Laurie Thomas of the Garden Club of the Back Bay’s tree committee, who took the above photo and who notes that if you look at what’s left of the tree, you can see the orange paint marker and notice of what had been the tree’s planned demise, rather than its unscheduled departure from this plane of existence, perhaps assisted by the rain and wind from yesterday’s storm.
Thomas adds both of the cars were parked in resident-only spots but that neither had Back Bay parking stickers…
