Lowell man to serve six months in jail for stealing gold chain from man fatally struck by MBTA trolley

BOSTON, September 18, 2025 – A Lowell man will serve six months in the House of Correction after being convicted by a Suffolk County jury this week for taking a man’s gold chain necklace after the victim was dragged to his death by a Green Line trolley at North Station in May 2023, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced.

A BMC Central jury on Monday convicted CHRISTOPHER POLANCO, 26, of Lowell on one count of larceny under $1,200.

Judge Paul Treseler sentenced Polanco to one year in the House of Correction with six months to serve followed by six months probation…
