An Amazon employee was arrested after a violent confrontation involving machetes at the company’s Revere, Massachusetts facility, Revere Police reported on social media. The incident, which took place on Saturday, saw 24-year-old Evens Laforet allegedly chasing a co-worker while armed with two machetes following an argument at their workplace located at 135 American Legion Highway.
Responding to the 911 call, Revere Police officers and a collaboration of local law enforcement including the Massachusetts State Police K9 Unit and the State Police Air Wing established a perimeter around a nearby marsh where Laforet had fled after the altercation during which he is said to have threatened to kill the victim, standing over him with raised weapons before other employees could intervene, the situation was intense, but authorities managed to de-escalate it without any further violence.
Laforet surrendered after negotiations and was consequently booked on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, assault with intent to murder, and assault and battery, according to the Revere Police Department’s official Facebook post.
