Mass. hotel to lay off all staff and close — then be replaced by 300 apartments

A hotel in Middlesex County will be closing in December and will be replaced by apartments.

The Westford Regency Inn and Conference Center at 219 Littleton Road will be sold to developer Redgate, with the sale closing on Dec. 18, according to Mark Waxler, asset manager for the hotel.

All 62 employees at the hotel will be laid off, according to a Massachusetts Workers Adjustment Retraining Notice filed with the state on Oct. 16. Waxler said some of the employees will be transferred to the company’s sister hotel, the Boxboro Regency in Boxborough, and the company is working with all employees to help them find new positions…
