Three men from Boston found their schemes unravel after a series of unlawful acts led Dartmouth Police Department straight to them. According to a social media post by the Dartmouth Police Department, a vehicle break-in at the Walgreens on State Road was reported on the morning of October 12, where the victim’s vehicle was burglarized overnight, and several items including a wallet and credit cards were stolen. The plot thickened when the victim noted unauthorized transactions on his credit cards.
Relentless in their approach, the suspects utilized one of the stolen credit cards to buy around $1800 in Visa gift cards from the very same Walgreens where the vehicle was compromised. Officer Nicholas Barnes, on reviewing the security footage, spotted three male suspects committing the credit card fraud. Mere hours later, as a disconnect to the earlier crime, Barnes and fellow officers responded to a trespassing incident at UMass Dartmouth and recognized the same individuals from the Walgreens security footage.
The quick linkage of these separate events led to the arrest of the three suspects at the UMass Dartmouth campus. They were apprehended without a struggle and an investigation recovered property belonging to the victim.
