No Kings protests occurred across the country on Oct. 18, including here in Boston, where one of the largest crowds of around 100,000 people gathered at Boston Common.
Held throughout the country, the purpose of the protests was to remind the government that there are no kings in the United States and to advocate for underrepresented narratives. The timing of the protest was extremely important, as it took place in response to government actions that protesters saw as dictatorial. These actions include ICE raids, challenging past rulings on same-sex marriage, and making it harder for people to make decisions about their own bodies.
