Carmen LaPorta, a longtime Malden resident and World War II Marine veteran, recently turned 100 years old. Mayor Gary Christenson attended the event to recognize LaPorta’s life and military service.
LaPorta owned a barber shop on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston for many years. He once gave Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. a haircut.
