PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Massachusetts man has agreed to plead guilty for his role in a murder-for-hire conspiracy that targeted a federal witness and two rival gang members.
Kareem Pires signed a plea agreement Monday, admitting to conspiracy to tamper with a witness by killing or attempting to kill. The charge carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in federal prison.
Rhode Island U.S. District Chief Judge John McConnell will need to sign off on the deal. A hearing has not yet been scheduled.
