Mayor Wu reflects on a busy year, shares her priorities for 2026

As the leader of one of the oldest cities in the U.S., responsible for nearly 700,000 residents, but also a wife and mother to an 11-month-old, an 8-year-old and an 11-year-old, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu is juggling a lot.

How does she do it all?

“Everything is planned out as much as possibly it can and then often things don’t go according to plan. So I get sick at night, someone has a pajama day they didn’t tell us about or they can’t find their soccer shin guard in one place and you just have to do the best you can to figure out what’s needed in the moment and find a way to make sure that everybody in the family has what they need. And that’s what we’re trying to do in the city as well.”…
