Mass. man sentenced to 14 years in connection with random assaults, machete attack

A Waltham man was sentenced to 14 years in prison in connection with a series of random, unprovoked attacks, including one with a machete, that injured 12 people across the city in 2020.

Clauvens Janvier, 29, pleaded guilty on Monday to 12 separate assaults in Waltham that occurred over a 30-day period in November 2020, the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office announced.

Janvier was arrested on Dec. 11, 2020, and charged with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for a single attack that happened in a parking garage in Waltham the previous month.
