Famed Tuskegee Airman To Attend Quincy MLK, Jr. Breakfast Jan. 19

Mayor Thomas P. Koch and the City of Quincy will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 19, at the Tirrell Room located at 254 Quarry St. in Quincy.

US Army Air Corps (ret.) Brigadier General Enoch “Woody” Woodhouse will be in attendance. He was one of the famed Tuskegee Airmen, black servicemen who fought racial prejudice while serving in World War II. General Woodhouse, who was born in Roxbury, will celebrate his 99th birthday Jan. 14.

“As we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we are reminded of those like Brigadier General ‘Woody’ Woodhouse of the Tuskegee Airmen — individuals whose extraordinary courage helped break barriers long before the Civil Rights Movement, embodying the very ideals of equal opportunity and service to our country that Dr. King championed,” Koch said.

Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. The breakfast event will begin at 9 a.m. and is free to the public. If you have any questions, contact the Mayor’s office at 617-376-1990…
