A Boston jury heard that a Dublin man hurled racial epitaphs before he was struck, fell, and fatally cracked open his head on St Patrick’s Day.

“Of course, it is not okay to say the N-word. It is also not ok to take the law into your own hands,” Assistant District Attorney Jillian Bannister told jurors in opening statements at Boston’s Suffolk Superior courthouse Monday morning.

Barry Whelan (46) was found lying on his back in downtown Boston on March 17th, 2023, and was taken to Tufts Medical Center. Mr Whelan died from his injuries, a skull fracture and brain hemorrhaging, three days later on March 20th, according to prosecutors…
