The recently-installed fare gates in Boston’s South Station are showing some growing pains as crowds of commuters repeatedly bottleneck while navigating the new ticket scanning process.
The hiccups are to be expected and delays are minimal, transit officials said, and they expect the system to grow smoother as riders adjust to the new way of collecting fares and as maintenance crews work to resolve issues with the technology.
