Dave Portnoy is wasting no time in the new year, diving into slices of South Shore cheese pizza.
The Barstool Sports founder found himself most recently at Coop’s Bar & Grille for his popular “One Bite Pizza Review.” The review was posted Jan. 15.
Pizza at Coop’s Bar & Grille may not be the first thing Portnoy would have picked on its menu, but it’s no reason to discount the restaurant at 520 Washington St. in Quincy.“It’s a bar and grille,” Portnoy said. “They have the pizza, but they don’t say ‘pizza’ in the name. Other dishes he saw customers eating “looked great,” he said.He was told their pizza isn’t really South Shore bar pizza, and Portnoy could tell based on its size.Ultimately, he rated the pizza a 6.8.Portnoy, who is originally from Swampscott, also commented on the feeling of home he had at Coop’s.“This is where Barstool (Sports) started,” he said. “When you come home, these people have been with me from day one, basically, so it just hits different.”…
