Cambridge Fire Battles, Extinguishes Two-Alarm Blaze

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A two-alarm fire in Cambridge was successfully extinguished Monday morning.

The Cambridge Fire Department responded around 7 a.m. to the fire at 1137 Massachusetts Ave, a five-story brick and wood building.

“In a coordinated, aggressive attack, companies ensured evacuation of all residents while establishing water supplies, stretching attack lines, opening up to access the fire, overhauling, & ventilating,” the department said in a Facebook post. “The fire had extended from a lower floor via a light shaft & concealed spaces to the cockloft. In spite of the weather conditions, the fire was quickly contained and extinguished by firefighters – an excellent stop.”…
