The Red Line continues to be the Wednesday’s Child of the MBTA, with trains continuing to fall by the wayside. As of 8:55 a.m., Transit Matter’s Red Line tracker showed just ten trains in operation on the entire line (six of the new ones; four of the Methuselahs) compared to 17 on the Orange Line.
Bright and early, at 5:27 a.m., the MBTA announced a dead train at Ashmont, gumming up the works, causing 30-minute delays since trains could only operate on one track. The T reported getting the corpse off the track and resumption of two-track service at 8:31, but, of course, reported residual delays.
