BROCKTON — Nearly 500 workers at Boston Medical Center South threatened to strike over job cuts and changes to pay and benefits.
Nurses and other staff represented by the Massachusetts Nurses Association voted to authorize a three-day work stoppage if contract talks break down, the union announced on Feb. 5.
“When BMC management chooses cuts over care, we choose to stand together,” said Registered Nurse Maureen Healy, a 28-year veteran of the hospital formerly known as Good Samaritan Medical Center. “Today’s strike vote makes it clear: we will not allow BMC’s hardline positions to compromise patient safety or disrespect the hard work staff perform every day–the same staff who have stuck with this organization through thick and thin.”…
